Dani Ihtatho. Born in Indonesia, 1982. Received B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB). Hold master degree in Electrical Engineering from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP). Currently, working as Flight Safety Analyst in Garuda Indonesia.

Love to read and watching movie. Interested in photography. Swimming freak too.

    Hi Dani,
    I am in need of knowing the mathematical equation
    which convert RGB sppace to XYZ and then to Lab space.
    I found many conversion formulars but i exactly want the formulas used by matlab, bcs i used matlab to do the transform. I now want to proov the behavior of some colour components mathematically.

    If you dont mind can you advice me how to get it (the formula used by matlab to convert RGB to XYZ then to Lab)

    Your response will be greatly appreciated.

    here are my syntaxes:
    ———–
    gbr = imread(‘1.jpg’);
    rgbkelab = makecform(’srgb2lab’);
    lab_uint = applycform(gbr,rgbkelab);
    lab_dbl = lab2double(lab_uint);
    L = round(lab_dbl(:,:,1));
    a = lab_dbl(:,:,2);
    b = lab_dbl(:,:,3);
    ———-
    I convert directly from RGB to Lab by using makecform(’srgb2lab’).
    since RGB values are in uint8, applycform returns values in uint8 as well. Therefore, I used lab2double to convert Lab values into double.
