I have had my new Sony DSC-H2 camera for about two weeks. However, I haven’t equipped it with memory card. My camera supports Memory Stick Duo and Memory Stick PRO Duo, it doesn’t support Memory Stick and Memory Stick PRO. If you want to know more about this memory card, just visit http://www.memorystick.com.
So, two days ago I went to electronic plaza to get this memory card. At that time I didn’t bring my camera. I bought 1 Gb Memory Stick PRO Duo manufactured by SanDisk. The seller said that this SanDisk product compatible with all Sony products and the price also cheaper.
When I inserted this card and turned my camera on, there was error message said “Reinsert memory card”. I turned off my camera, reinsert the card and then turned on the camera. But I still had the same problem. I remembered that my friend has Sony Ericsson mobile phone. As other Sony product, his mobile phone also uses Memory Stick as storage media. His memory card was Sony 64 Mb Memory Stick Duo. I inserted his card to my camera and my card to his phone and hey…… both were worked well. I guessed that Sony DSC-H2 only support Sony product. I thought like this since I found that Sony battery charger also supports Sony battery only.
So, yesterday I complained to the shop regarding this matter. They tried several times using different card from SanDisk, even they tried 512 Mb Memory Stick PRO Duo. But, the error message still appears. At the end, they admitted that SanDisk memory card doesn’t compatible with my camera. Of course I wanted my money back but I can’t. I had two options, buy this card or buy another good which has the same price. I chose the latter options. Finally, I bought SanDisk Cruzer Micro. It’s 2 Gb thumbdrive with U3 feature. So, with the same amount of money I get storage media which has two times capacity but can’t be used for my camera.
